Job Summary
The Senior Strategist performs short and long term strategy development, analysis, and planning for the business unit which may include but not be limited to five-year strategic plans, long-term integrated resource plans, operational plans, and environmental strategy. The Senior Strategist provides administration and analysis of customer research, coordinates regulatory rate cases, business unit performance reporting and business plan deployment. In providing these services, this position works closely with senior management and other areas of the Company.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead and provide support in developing the annual strategy presentation for DTE Energy Senior Management and the DTE Energy Board of Directors.
- Analyze the strategic, operating and financial impacts of internal business proposals or external regulatory / legislative proposals. Develop recommendations and associated business cases in response to these proposals.
- Develop detailed financial models to support the long-term planning process as well as business cases for major projects/investments.
- Lead cross-functional teams to investigate, analyze and make recommendations to Senior Management on current strategic, operational issues or customer satisfaction issues.
- Provide leadership, analytical and financial skills to the business units.
- Lead and facilitate the strategy update process, development of organizational scorecards and creation of the business units’ annual operating plans.
- Serve as an internal consultant to business units, as required to support the overall strategy.
- Act as liaison for various corporate initiatives including strategic planning, human resources, communication and regulatory initiatives.
- Research and prepare internal and external communications for Senior Management.
- Lead lean/six-sigma projects to drive business improvements in the business unit.
- Use continuous improvement tools to identify defects and improve processes. Candidate will be required to obtain Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Develop, support and lead pilot programs.
Qualifications
Education, Experience and Competencies
Minimum:Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance or Engineering and the knowledge/capabilities typically acquired through 5-plus years of job-relevant experience, inclusive of professional level business functions exhibiting a progressive work history.
A Master’s degree is preferred in Business Administration, Engineering or Economics.
Ability to think strategically and creatively while demonstrating strong analytical and facilitation skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with proven abilities to cohesively defend or justify recommendations.
- Ability to work professionally with individuals at all levels of the corporation and with outside consultants.
- Demonstrated financial analysis and modeling skills and experience.
- Demonstrated project management skills and experience.
- Must receive a recommended score on a pre-hire assessment.
